The Youth of Our Community
Our Philosophy
Everyone likes to say, "the Youth are our future." Hogwash! In Luke 18, Jesus tells his 'adult' disciples to "let the little children come to me for to such belongs the kingdom of Heaven, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it!" The Youth, from infant to college, are not the future, they are the NOW! At emmanuel we believe the equipping of our young people to be a primary task! We strive to offer ways to educate them in scripture and the teachings of the church as well as to get them involved in the work of the church along with everyone else. Of course we love to have fun too!
Our first goal is to help moms and dads be the teachers and role models for their kids. The faith should be taught at home, not just at church. Still we offer a variety of opportunities for kids of all ages to learn and grow as God's people; Joyful Hearts early learning center, Knights and Roses, sunday School, monthly family events, E-LYF (emmanuel lutheran youth fellowship), and general pastor care and visitation.
E-LYF (emmanuel lutheran youth fellowship)
We have an active 6-8th grade group that includes those going through confirmation.
We have an active High School group that enjoys:
- Sunday bible class, 945am
- Wednesday-Hyper Jesus-8pm at Shay Station
- Monthly fun events-Lockins, day trips, adventures(canoeing, hiking), trips to Concordia, etc.
- One day servant projects
- Summer trips - we have gone to Higher Things conferences, Queens NY servant event, Haiti, etc.
Our youth are involved as ushers, trustees, musicians, nursery attendants, vbs volunteers, helping out the elderly in our congregation, serving those in need.
Everyone is welcome, not just member
s!
